Berit Gwendolyn Gilma


Berit Gwendolyn Gilma is a new media artist, art/creative director and writer living between Berlin and Los Angeles. Working in the nexus of contemporary art, politics and new technology, she is interested in the aesthetics of secrecy and into the creation of poetic realities.

As a Fulbright fellow she is currently a MA candidate at UCLA Design Media Department. She holds a BA in Visual Communication from the University of the Arts in Berlin where she has been a student of Ai Weiwei. She further studied at The New School in New York City and was a visiting scholar at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia.

She is the creative and art director of composer Danny Elfman and has worked with and for artists such as Ai Weiwei, Trevor Paglen, Adam Harvey, James Bridle  and hacktivist/surveillance expert Jacob Appelbaum.

She is the lead art curator of Elevate Festival in Graz, Austria.
